Brachytherapy application and Contouring Workshop

On 6th December 2023, the Kathmandu Cancer Center successfully conducted a Brachytherapy Application and Contouring Workshop as part of the 18th SFO International Cancer Conference. Held in collaboration with NESRO, the workshop focused on advanced brachytherapy techniques for Gyaneoncology and Head & Neck cancers.

A Rare Opportunity to Learn from Global Experts

The workshop was led by a panel of distinguished experts, including Dr. Anuja Jhingran, a global authority on gynecological brachytherapy from MD Anderson Cancer Center. Dr. Jhingran is renowned for her expertise in treating complex gynecological cancers and shared her vast knowledge and experience with participants.

Local experts Dr. Simit Sapkota and Dr. Subhas Pandit from the Kathmandu Cancer Center also co-led the session, providing valuable insights into the application of brachytherapy in Nepal’s healthcare setting.

The event offered a rare and invaluable opportunity for radiation oncologists, physicists, residents, and therapy technicians in Nepal to learn directly from global leaders in brachytherapy. The workshop featured hands-on contouring sessions and discussions on innovative brachytherapy techniques tailored for Gyane-oncology and Head & Neck cancers.

Expanding Brachytherapy Experties in Nepal

The workshop attracted a limited number of participants due to high demand, with registration filled on a first-come, first-served basis. Attendees left with enhanced skills and deeper knowledge, empowered to apply these advanced techniques in their own clinical practices.
